Understanding Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU)
Equine recurrent uveitis (ERU), colloquially known as moon blindness, is a significant inflammatory ocular disease affecting horses. In a study conducted by the researchers, the AI tool was compared against evaluations made by 150 veterinarians who were presented with a series of 40 eye photos. The results showed that while specialized equine veterinarians were correct 76% of the time in their diagnoses, the AI tool achieved a remarkable 93% accuracy rate in identifying ERU.
